Investors: Seagate deal sells us short
Article Abstract:
Seagate Technology's shareholders are up in arms against a $20-billion deal to turn the company private. Shareholders are questioning a major component of the complex deal, mainly the $2 billion sale of the company's manufacturing operations to management and a buyout group led by Silver Lake Partners. They complain that the price tag is just 9.3 times what the company earned in 1999 from ongoing operations.
