Does your company own what you know?

Article Abstract:

More employers, particularly in the technology sector, are putting more restrictions on employees who have access to company secrets. In some cases, entry-level employees are even required to sign agreements prohibiting them from transferring to competitors once they resign. Observers attribute the trend to cutthroat competition that has some companies holding on to ideas which they believe provide them with competitive advantage.

Mitsubishi settles suit for $34M

Article Abstract:

Mitsubishi Motor Manufacturing of America will pay $34 million for the settlement of the sexual-harassment lawsuit that was brought against it by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The settlement will be divided among the more than 300 current and former female workers at Mitsubishi who accused the company of repeated sexual harassment at its Normal, IL, facility. The settlement represents the largest harassment settlement for the EEOC, which had sued the company in April 1996. The company has denied the sexual harassment claims of the women although it has issued an apology for the problems.
