WestJet unshaken by turbulence

Article Abstract:

Discount carrier WestJet Airlnes Inc is expected to benefit from the current turmoil in Onex Corp's unsolicited bid to acquire and merge Air Canada with Canadian Airlines Interational. The company said it will gain market share from the diminished operations of Air Canada. Westjet, which offers low fares on short-haul flights in Western Canada, cuts costs by dispensing with printed tickets, travel agents and special meals. It maintains a fleet of 13 Boeing 737-200 jet aircraft, and saves costs by operating just one model of plane.
