Breaking the ice

Article Abstract:

Chung Ju Yung in Nov 1998 sent 501 cattle to North Korea as a gift to famine-ravaged country. His gift earned him a visit from North Koran leader, Kim Jong II, who told him he was ready to begin a cooperative new era between North and South. South Korea's President Kim Dae has also stated that his government would support religious, journalistic, and other exchanges with the North.

Korea goes bust

Article Abstract:

The Asian wide spread credit-card culture has affected South Korea badly as South Korea tried to create a plastic driven economy overnight and this led to a debt crisis for the second time in five years. Fifteen percent of the South Korean population is insolvent and it is common to see tales of debt induced divorce, suicide and young women ending up in brothels.
