Zi shares soar on Chinese deal

Article Abstract:

Software maker Zi Corp of Calgary, Alberta, has announced that it signed a contract with Chinese cellular phone company Konka Group Co Ltd. Zi will provide Chinese language software for Konka's digital cellphones sold in China and overseas. The new contract comes a month after it bagged a deal to provide the same software to set-top interactive TV devices made by a Chinese electronics institute and to an educational products company run by the government.

Celestica in $1-billion (U.S.) deal with Motorola

Article Abstract:

Celestica Inc. has entered a contract worth more than $1-billion (U.S.) over three years to manufacture electronic components for Motorola Inc.'s mobile phones and other wireless devices. The company has also agreed to purchase two Motorola manufacturing plants for $70-million.

GM shares $4-billion order from U.S. Army

Article Abstract:

A General Motors Corp. assembly plant in London, Ontario has been selected, along with two other plants, to build the U.S. Army's new armored personnel carrier. The $4 billion contract for 2,000 vehicles has been awarded to a joint venture between GM and General Dynamics Corp.
