A period of rapid transformation

Article Abstract:

Australians in 1983 recognized the value of investing in managed funds following the two-year economic recession. The market rise was as a result of declining interest rates in the US and the election of the Hawke government which devalued the Australian dollar. Banking deregulation gave way to easy credit and takeovers. The 1987 stockmarket crash adjusted values, collapsed some companies, and strengthened those which were managed well.

Safety in these numbers

Article Abstract:

Investors uncertain about the future of the market should move their investments to quality stocks. They should look for companies with proven track records that are not vulnerable to an earnings reversal during a market downturn. Portfolios should include established companies that also offer above-average growth potential.
