E. Grace Payne, the executive director of the Westminster Neighborhood Center in the Watts section of Los Angeles, CA, recalls the 1965 Watts riots and how they caused her to redouble her efforts to improve the community. The 1992 riots are also discussed, along with the management of the center.

The baby catcher: Margaret Dorroh practices one of the world's oldest professions - midwifery

Article Abstract:

Dorroh opened the Rincon, GA, Family Health and Birth Center in 1977. Since that time the nurse-midwife has delivered more than 500 babies and never loses touch with the miraculous nature of childbirth. She says pregnant women tend to better informed today than in years past.
