Do charts tell us everything

Article Abstract:

Technical charts are used for forecasting stock prices. However, there are some factors, which cannot be incorporated into these technicalities and hence these charts cannot give an indication of the full potential of the stocks. Using the example of Babcock & Brown's share, the failure of technical charts to predict the optimum potential is highlighted.

Stock selection is described as a challenging process and trying to pick stocks that will recover the strongest after a substantial decline is even harder. Stocks such as AMP, Brambles and Aristocrat Leisure fail to be serious contenders but the ResMed company is a primary contender given its fundamental outlook remains positive over a long term.
