Not all boutiques are created equal

Article Abstract:

The performances of Aegis Value, Baron Asset, Baron Small Cap, Thornburg Intl Value and Thornburg Value are highlighted. While regulatory issues, board quality and manager incentives of these funds are rated from excellent to fair, Aegis' fund has to be much cheaper, Baron's compensation is poorly structured with an above-medium expense ratio and Thornburg's climbing assets should have falling expenses and its bonuses are tied to fund performance.

Vanguard value VIPERs

Article Abstract:

Vanguard Value VIPERs faces strong competition from within even though it is a very good option for exchange-traded funds. This ETF provides cheap, reliable exposure to large-value stocks and is less subject to manager risk than its actively managed rivals.
