A survey of the top life insurance companies was criticized because insurers thought there should not be greater emphasis on the costs of the policy than to the policy's features. The survey continued its yearly tradition of allocating 70 percent of its points to the policy costs and 30 percent of the points to policy features. The insurers argue weighting costs over benefits is misleading to consumers.
