NRTA: 50 years old in October

Article Abstract:

The National Retired Teachers Assn was founded in 1947 by Ethel Percy Andrus who was shocked to find that many retired teachers lived in substandard conditions without cost-of-living adjustments for their pensions. Andrus' goal was to improve both finances and self-esteem of the retirees.

What is the solution for Medicare?

Article Abstract:

There is a wide range of conflicting information about Medicare as Congress prepares to cut expenditures by $270 billion by the year 2002. No matter what information is given, however, such a significant reduction will result in the Medicare program spending less.

Your right to vote: a public trust

Article Abstract:

Americans have both the right to vote and the responsibility to vote. Many citizens seem to believe that their votes do not count, but it should be remembered that at least one presidential election was decided by less than one vote per precinct.
