This article provides advice for investors in technology, suggesting the need for a knowledge of the past to understand why technology innovations of the present will be different. The author claims differences in the current technology revolution include scientific progress as a driver in innovation processes, the need for more external and multi-disciplinary knowledge in technology innovations, they have become more market-driven and private sector funded, the occurrence of innovations in multiple companies rather than just one, more financing for new firms and risky projects, and the global aspects of innovation.

The positive outcomes of such increases in oil prices, like increase in oil refining, energy exploration and increase in demand for substitute fuels, etc., are also discussed.
