Article Abstract:

The US Environmental Protection Agency sued seven electric utilities for routine maintenance. The agency claims modifications that would result in a New Source Review were not reported. The installation of new pollution control equipment would be necessary. As a result, many of these utilities have been unable to complete routine maintenance which could harm the utilities' operations.

Energy star transformers: a profitable partnership to improve distribution efficiency

Article Abstract:

The EPA and electric utilities launched the ENERGY STAR Transformer Program in Apr. 1995 to promote the use of high-efficiency cost-effective distribution transformers. Under the program, EPA will publicize the names of utilities with commitments to improve their transformers and provide technical support to ensure a cost-effective reduction in transformer losses.

Digital rabbit ears

Article Abstract:

The use of digital signal for television under the Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star Program is designed to lower energy consumption to more than 70%. Digitally formatted sets are scheduled to be released not until late 2008.
