Monotone Optimal Issuing Policies in a Deterministic Inventory Model

Article Abstract:

The problem of optimal issuing policies in deterministic inventory theory is considered. Monotone policies are optimal for any number of items if they are optimal for two items. Models in the literature are extended to allow the possibility of replacing items before the end of their lifetime. This solution simplifies proofs. Under certain conditions there are optimal policies in the extended model in which no replacement occurs until the end of an item's lifetime. Connections to existing literature are provided.

Consecutive Optimizers for a Partitioning Problem with Applications to Optimal Inventory Groupings for Joint Replenishment

Article Abstract:

A new approach to the optimization of inventory groupings is presented. Conditions are presented that guarantee an optimum partition. Consecutive or semiconsecutive partition problems are solved in polynomial time. The results are applied to generalizations of a problem in inventory groupings. Theorems and proofs are included.

Cost Formulas For Continuous Review Inventory Models with Fixed Delivery Lags

Article Abstract:

Continuous review single-item inventory models show the net inventory position to be the inventory on hand plus the outstanding orders. Cost components depend on actual inventory on hand. These two inventory concepts are related by simple expressions derived in the paper.
