Article Abstract:

Several electric utilities have combined teamwork, communication, innovative technologies and ingenuity to produce positive responses to natural disasters. For example, some utilities decentralize authority in the event of disasters and assigns personnel to emergency tasks that meet their capabilities. The use of computer technologies such as work management systems and telephone answering systems is essential in organizing power restoration work and giving the public accurate estimates of how long the outages would be.

Electric utilities return 16 percent in 2005

The performance of electric utilities industry has increased by 16 percent in 2005 at EEI (Edison Electric Institute) Index. Revenues of the industry rose by 1 billion to 20.1 billion dollars.
