Strengthening energy market price indices

Article Abstract:

The U.S. energy industry gives utmost importance to market price indices that is widely used in bilateral natural gas and electric commodity markets to track spot and forward prices. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and market participants have set standards for the price index developers in creating and publishing their energy price indices for moving forward the gas and electricity market.

Reforming old rules

Article Abstract:

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission adopted final rule, Order 890, which includes the standards for the industry structure, the rules in transmission access, transmission services, transmission planning and the rollover rights that are to be followed in the reformatted open access tariff rules. A discussion of the revised landmark orders featuring industry-supported elements are also provided.

Reliability moves ahead

Article Abstract:

The North American Electricity Reliability Council's 2003-2012 Reliability Assessment, transmissions systems in North America would perform reliably in the near term even though in some areas these systems are reaching their reliability limits. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission would be participating to make it the most reliable in the world.
