Boldline as a sunscreen: its photoprotector capacity against UVB radiation

Article Abstract:

Boldine may serve as a substance to prevent the damages caused by exposure to UV rays. It is a novel and potentially alternative antioxidant. A widely distributed native tree, boldo, in Chile is the source of boldine which is actually (S)-2,9-dihydroxy-aporphine. The leaf of the tree is the source of the product. The structure of boldine is provided in the article.

The article discusses the potentially toxic effects from metals unintentionally absorbed through the skin. The general toxicity, skin absorption, and immunology of cosmetically useful derivatives of chromium, cobalt, copper, and iron are reviewed.
