Pharmacologists from different countries convened on June 20-21, 1996, in London, England, to celebrate the contributions of Prof. Sir Colin Dollery to clinical pharmacology and medicine. Dollery was a lecturer at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School before he held the position of Chairman of Medicine. He was also the pro vice-chancellor of medicine and dentistry in the University of London. The event featured paper presentations on the significant developments in the discipline

TiPS on identity

Article Abstract:

Pharmacology is on the verge of an identity crisis as breakthroughs in molecular biology continue to blur distinctions between the classical fields of biomedical science. The periodical Trends in Pharmacological Sciences (TiPS) caters to the different interests of pharmacologists. TiPS has succeeded in creating a 'pharmacological identity.' It has covered a wide variety of issues and has defined the domain of pharmacology by illustration and example.

Careers in media: life one step away from research

Article Abstract:

One pharmacologist veered away from the typical research career by promoting educational CD-ROMs and organizing scientific conferences. She had been trained in neuropharmacology at Bradford University and had worked as a researcher at the neuropharmacology department at Glaxo Group Research. She then entered Photosound Communications wher she began as a project manager for industry exhibits.
