SWEDEN: REMYNIL BY SANOCHEMIA

The Austrian company Sanochemia Pharmazeutika AG is to file for European approval for Remynil. The pharmaceutical for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, which contains galantamine, has been approved in Sweden. Sanochemia's partners, Janssen-Cilag and Shire Pharmaceuticals Group plc will market the drug worldwide.

SWITZERLAND/UK: ARES SERONO, BRITISH BIOTECH R&D

Article Abstract:

Ares Serono of Switzerland and British Biotech plc of Oxford have signed an exclusive cooperation agreement concerning research, development and commercialisation of metal enzyme inhibitors for the treatment of severe inflammatory diseases. British Biotech is starting clinical tests of two inhibitors. Ares Serono has secured an option for the exclusive rights to the two inhibitors, which might be used in the treatment of multiple sclerosis.

AUSTRIA: SANOCHEMIA BOOSTS SYNTHESIS

Article Abstract:

The Austrian company Sanochemia Pharmazeutika is quadrupling active agent synthesis capacity at its plant in Neufeld to 12 tonnes per year. The investment amounts to EUR 2.9mn. The facility is used also for the production of the Alzheimer treatment Nivalin.
