Game theory as a model for business and business ethics

Article Abstract:

The publication of Oskar Morgenstern's and John von Neumann's treatise entitled 'Theory of Games and Economic Behavior' resulted in the creation of another branch of economic theory known as game theory. It became a mathematical model for economic activity by economists and was later applied to social and political issues as well as general business theory. However, subscribing to such a concept in business reinforces a destructive obsession with measurable outcomes and a false sense of competition.
