Schumacher expanded: ethically implementing appropriate technology through national information technology plans

Article Abstract:

Governments had not previously considered in great depth the application of computer networks, digital and wireless technology, and strategic information and communications technology (ICT). E.F.Schumacher, when designing the directions and parameters of national ICT plans has set out a principle that can provide a valuable context for government officials, high tech business suppliers and ICT professionals.

Gatekeeping in Britain's "New" national health service

Article Abstract:

The comparison of the Old National Health Service Act with the new one introduced in 1990 by the Thatcher government reveals that the new law ensures improved health care services, allows general practitioners to hold central government funds, assures careful administration of clinical services and implements new procedures for allocation of resources.
