Anthrax in Sverdlovsk: new pieces to the puzzle

Article Abstract:

Russian Pres Boris Yeltsin admitted in his state visit to the US that their side has lagged in implementing the Biological Weapons Convention of 1972. The statement indicated that the former USSR was actively developing biological weapons despite signing an agreement to the contrary. The revelation also seemed to explain a mysterious outbreak of anthrax in Sverdlovsk, Russia. Unofficial reports stated that the outbreak was caused by organisms which leaked from a military laboratory in the area.
