Beyond the point of no return

Article Abstract:

Iraq was gripped by a series of ethno-sectarian civil wars in 2006 with the devastating suicide bombs that targeted the Shia community in Sadr City in November signifying that the point of no return was passed and an existential struggle for survival was breaking out between the Shias and Sunnis. Experts believe that the U.S.' future policy in Iraq cannot be based on reviving a strong central government, but on managing the conflicts and preventing them from becoming a catalyst for wider instability in the region.
