Pakistan admits nuclear capability; U.S. military sales revealed

Article Abstract:

Pakistan acknowledged its capability of constructing a nuclear weapon but allayed fears by announcing a halt in the production of highly enriched uranium, a key element in the production of nuclear weapons. Pakistan's admission of nuclear capability was made as a precondition to the resumption of US aid. It was revealed, however, that despite the discontinuance of aid, the US still sold military equipment and spare parts amounting to $100 million from 1990 to 1991 to Pakistan.
