Article Abstract:

The second Minnowbrook conference focused on the relationship between democracy and public administration. The main issues discussed during this gathering were technicism, individualism, the politics-administration dichotomy, professional identity, and social equity and 'empathy.' The relationships among organization, gender and psyche as well as among proactivity, neutrality and politicization were also discussed.

An assessment of institutional arrangement and microcomputer skills and competencies in public administration graduate education

Article Abstract:

An analysis of the relationship between the demand for microcomputer skills and competencies and the development of graduate public administration programs is presented. The analysis focuses on the difference among such programs in teaching microcomputers. It is shown that some vital functions of record and data management are not covered by some programs despite their recognized importance.

Economic modelling and public policy

Article Abstract:

Quantitative economic modeling is used to develop and evaluate public policies. Models such as Impact Analysis for Planning and Regional Economic Models Inc. can produce information for specific or groups of regions or states as well as propose policies. Public policy makers and analysts can use economic models to measure the effectiveness and costs of proposed policies.
