Control over bureaucracy: cultural theory and institutional variety

Article Abstract:

Grid-group cultural theory application confirms the known categories of controls over public administration from a different starting point and highlights the types of controls which are left out by other approaches. This approach offers a unique way of identifying differences in control systems over time and space. Moreover, it helps to identify and predict sources of instability and the dynamics of public administration control systems. The approach produces expectation and hypotheses that diverge and contradict the hypotheses drawn from other theoretical frameworks.
