Ecological citizenship: Justice, rights and the virtue of resourcefulness
Article Abstract:
An argument of the thesis that ecological citizenship must give a distinct content to a more formal understanding of citizenship is presented. The theoretical difference between professor Andrew Dobson's view and this study might be of importance for making the wider community of political theorists and fellow citizens understand that the pursuit of ecological citizenship is a worthy and workable project.

An explanation of the terms polity and membership and their relationship to politics with reference to ecological citizenship is presented. Citizenship is of importance in the environmental debate as an intellectual challenge and as an answer to the question of how a society can be maintained.

Ecological citizenship is about rights and duties, which means accepting the general idea of the architecture of citizenship. Besides the differences of theoretical framing, the relative criticism of professor Andrew Dobson's argument is accepted.
