Ecological modernisation and 'Realpolitik': ideas, interests and institutions

Article Abstract:

An investigation of efforts to introduce ecological modernization ideas in Norwegian environmental policy can shed valuable light on some aspects of the concept of ecological modernization. The most basic assumption that ecological modernization, a concept with a considerable number of different meanings, has challenged is the assumption of a zero-sum game between wealth and environmental concerns. The concept of ecological modernization is based on an integrative approach, implying an emphasis on environmental effects of sector policies.
