Equity under and state responses to the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986

Article Abstract:

The inflow of waste for disposal is a common problem for states involved in the commercial waste treatment and disposal. This problem as well and the equity issue it provokes have to be addressed at the national level, thus states affected are seeking national intervention to solve the issue through Section 104 (k) of the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act. However, they believe that the EPA is not doing enough to help resolve the conflict and Congress still has to act on the equity issue in hazardous waste transfers. This indicates the need for a national policy that would leave room for the execution of state authority.

Economic boundaries of health care: Factors influencing reform proposals

Article Abstract:

The health care system in the US has been burdened by problems such as increasing costs, decreasing access and inefficiency. The Clinton health reform plan, which proposed cost-control and wider health care coverage, was opposed by most American capitalists because its success was dependent on the growth rate of the economy. The capitalists preferred further cost reduction to improve their profitability, thereby shifting the burden of health care costs to the workers.
