Faithful to his theme

Article Abstract:

The influence and unique life of musician and composer Theodore C. Pierce is recounted. Both of Pierce's parents were musicians, and he studied music from an early age. After studying at Harvard, Julliard, and Boston University, Pierce worked at a number of teaching and choirmaster jobs, eventually staying for 27 years as music director at Cushing Academy. Pierce maintained his love of the outdoors throughout his life, working many summers as camp musician at a boy's camp in New Hampshire. He also viewed music as a moral concern and saw the good in all forms of music.
