Filtering EU environmental policies through the government layers: The EIA directive in Scotland and Bavaria

Article Abstract:

There has been much discourse about EU environmental policies and their often disappointing outcomes. Moving away from the conventional research attention at Member State level, and investigation of the EU environmental policy reality at the subnational level is made. It examines the practical implementation of the EIA Directive and describes the significant role of subnational players in the implementation process and their influence on the overall effectiveness of environmental policies in the EU.

Wind energy policies in the Netherlands: Institutional capacity-building for ecological modernization

Article Abstract:

A research analyzes how institutional conditions affect policy and planning processes for wind energy implementation in the Netherlands from the perspective of building institutional capacity for ecological modernization. The inadequate implementation is because policy community around wind power is characterized by fragmentation and mistrust due to lack of structural incorporation of public and societal stakeholders in policy-making and planning.
