Fingering white collars

Article Abstract:

The 2003 Extradition Act between Britain and the U.S. is facing criticism in parliament as well as in the media, as America's apparent disregard for international norms during its war on terror results in a general distrust of that country and its laws. A discussion is presented on why the provisions of the Act and the subsequent treaty are being criticized as biased in favor of the U.S. and unfair to defendants pursued by its authorities.

Long legal limbo

Article Abstract:

The prosecution of about 80 detainees held at Guantanamo Bay will begin in 2007 under the Military Commissions Act, but the remaining prisoners continue to be detained without charge, as they are classified as unlawful enemy combatants. However, it appears that the evidence that supports the prosecutions and the continued incarcerations is prompting some serious misgivings even among America's closest allies.

The unthinkable

The transitional administrative law, which was signed on March 8 by the members of the Coalition Provisional Authority, was described as a historic political consensus and evidence of democracy in action.
