Flashback: 80 years ago the NAACP goes to court

Article Abstract:

Even after the NAACP started a political fight against discrimination, its lawyers played a prominent role. The NAACP started the struggle by litigating before Supreme Court in 1915, with U.S. v. Guinn, a case involving African-Americans excluded from voting. This was an effective way at that time and encouraged African-American citizens to become lawyers, committed to the cause of civil rights. In 1938, the NAACP won an unprecedented case for the admission of a black student in the Law School of the University of Missouri. It also won the cases for equalized salary for black and white teachers and desegregation of interstate transit.
