Gathering energy

Article Abstract:

The new policies, which are supposed to be introduced in G8 summit for energy policies is not security for the old energy supply approach, but for competition across fuels, frontiers, and technologies to achieve a more sustainable equilibrium. With Russia being an energy superpower, President Vladimir Putin in his address spoke of developing long-term contracts between producers and consumers, characteristic of Russia's past dealings with European gas importers and exchanges of assets, possibly with German partners.

Securing supply

Article Abstract:

Oil companies looking for a share in this growth are investing in exploration and production in other parts of the world and are receiving support from their governments through diplomacy, aid, and a geopolitical approach to economic cooperation with oil exporters.

Energy and the G8: Energetic issues

Article Abstract:

Europe should develop an agreement with Russia over its energy supplies in the G8 Summit that would be held in St. Petersburg in June 2006. However, there were many queries raised with respect to authoritarianism, free markets and consumerism as for the Europeans the best way to get energy security is to have a free market, which is exactly the opposite of what is followed in Russia.
