Racial profiling

Article Abstract:

The author wants to delineate the shape of moral debate about racial profiling. He makes distinction between police abuse, disproportionate use of race in profiling, and use of race as information-carier for investigative purposes . By f ocusing on the discussion on use of race as information-carier for investigative purposes, the author invites more philosophical reflection on this subject.

Why racial profiling is hard to justify: A response to Risse and Zeckhauser

Risse and Zeckhauser offer a qualified defense of racial profiling in a racist society such as the contemporary United States of America. The difficult causal and interpretive judgments necessary to describe and evaluate the harm of racial profiling are stressed.
