Mediating employment disputes: perceptions of redress at the United States Postal Service

Article Abstract:

A theoretical framework, based on procedural justice theory and various social mediation theories, has been used to evaluate the efficiency of the United States Postal Service's Resolve Employment Disputes Reach Equitable Solutions Swiftly (REDRESS) pilot program. The analysis revealed that interest-based mediation is an effective mediation alternative for the Equal Employment Opportunity scheme. Further, it showed that the level of satisfaction expressed by complaining parties are relative to some existing factors, including control opportunity, presentation of views and treatment received.
