Mission Failure

Article Abstract:

This article discusses the need of the United Nations to redefine its peacekeeping forces; its traditional role was low profile and undemanding, requiring no tactical interventions, and remaining mostly neutral. The author argues that the United Nations needs a new, more aggressive plan that would include more expensive equipment and more personnel, as well as more military interventions in international conflicts.

Without strategy

Article Abstract:

The capture of Saddam Hussein is a success that boosts the morale of the security forces in Iraq but such a flush of success also encourages the coalition to continue to operate without a campaign plan. The leaders have failed to reveal a genuine counter-insurgent strategy for Iraq and this could become a microcosm of a larger global failure.
