Passion of the Christ in Abu Ghraib: Toward a new theory of ideology

Article Abstract:

A method is illustrated and a neglected concept of ideology and ideological critique is advanced by using two concrete examples of Mel Gibson's film 'The Passion of the Christ' and the other a body of photographs from Abu Ghraib. The two events are united by the secret they share, that of their psychological connection as pivotal developments of what has happened to the Amerikan psyche since September 11, 2001.
