Preparing for the 2001 nuclear posture review

Article Abstract:

The US has not reviewed the fundamental assumption behind nuclear force planning despite the end of the Cold War. A history of the annual Single Integrated Operational Plan process, and how the George Bush and Bill Clinton administrations have viewed the process, is provided.

Sparking a buildup: U.S. missile defense and China's nuclear arsenal

Article Abstract:

China's plans for nuclear force modernization as the US considers national missile defense deployment make a strategic understanding between the two countries vital. The relationship between missile defense and China's sovereignty is discussed.

Sparking a buildup: US missile defense and China's nuclear arsenal

Article Abstract:

There are concerns China will see the US national missile defense system as a reason to build up its own nuclear weaponry. The authorities in China and the US must work together to introduce an agreement which will cut the risk.
