Reflections on comparison and foundation: a response to Robert Costa's "Teaching the classics."

Article Abstract:

The article is in response to Robert Costa's article "Teaching the classics." It argues that science and the study of the humanities is to blame for the erosion of the prevalence of the classics rather than modern socialism. It shows how modern literary criticism itself, which encourages comparison and foundation is rendering the study of the classics less relevant in the 90s.

Symbols: Sites of creation and contest in Northern Ireland

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to see whether the new political dispensation leads to the creation of new symbols in Northern Ireland. The findings show that though different strategies are tried, the consociational nature and political relationship between the two communities still exists and hence no new dispensation has evolved.
