Article Abstract:

An interview with Zhao Ziyang is illustrated where Zhang Guangyou, Zong Fengming were also present. They discussed topics that included books written about Zhao outside China borders, personal dispositions of the central committee during the thirteenth congress, on 4 June 2005, matters concerning Hu Yaobang's fall from power and Wan Li, Deng Xiaoping's politics.

Basically Zhao Ziyang and Hu are in agreement on the issue of reform and supported one another, but the opinions differed on economic development, however Ziyang continued to go for work methods associated with propaganda agitation and mass movements.

An extract of the speech of Zhao Ziyang that he had given in his own defense is presented. The topics he discussed about included the outbreak of student unrest and disturbance, shortcomings and mistakes in economic work and the responsibilities attached to them, and the issue of burgeois liberalization.
