The Fourth World Conference on Women

Article Abstract:

The Fourth UN Conference on Women in Beijing, China, provided a blueprint for every country regarding ways to achieve equality for women. It gave nongovernmental organizations an internationally approved list of principles and goals to work out positive social changes. Implementation of the principles included in the conference's 'Platform for Action' will enable women to participate in society as full citizens. Actions planned by the US President's Interagency Council on Women are discussed.

Perspective on U.S. foreign policy today

Article Abstract:

American foreign and security policy in the 1990s should be supported by an extensive analysis of foreign and security issues designed to address containment concerns. A number of difficulties surrounds the participation of the country in international affairs. Future foreign policies should be based on promoting international economic and security stability. The country should also examine lessons learned from prewar isolationism.
