The international financial institutions and human rights: Law and practice

Article Abstract:

The international financial institutions (IFI) are intergovernmental organizations subject to international laws and therefore capable of possessing rights and duties under it. The adoption of expressed commitment by the IFIs that they would not divulge into activities that go against applicable human rights would solve the issue about the existence human rights obligations for the IFIs.

Women's rights as human rights: the Turkish case

Article Abstract:

The extent to which international human rights ideas have led to the improvement of the legal situation of women in Turkey is examined. Women's rights reforms in Turkey are not a direct result of international human rights norms, but human rights ideals have influenced the movement toward women's rights in Turkey.

Legislative reforms in Turkey and European human rights mechanisms

Article Abstract:

Support for human rights is becoming more evident among Turkish political leaders. Several new laws and amdendments have been passed to bring Turkey closer to implementing European human rights norms. Turkey's desire to join the European Union seems to be aiding the cause of human rights in Turkey.
