The lawmaking process in Cuba: Debating the bill on agricultural cooperatives

Article Abstract:

The lawmaking process functions of the Cuban National Assembly is demonstrated, which operates on the basis of five principles, as per observations and research. Law 36 on agricultural cooperatives was passed in 1982, with the main thrust of regulating the Agricultural Production Cooperatives (CPA) and by September, 2001 four versions was circulated by deputies and farmers who contributed to substantive changes in the law.

Cuba: the challenges of being global and socialist... at the same time

Article Abstract:

The economic transformations in Cuba have to meet the global challenge of changing the current structure of production to gain access to development without abandoning the socialist character of the country. The most appropriate development strategy for Cuba lies in undertaking a process of reindustrialization with export substitution.

Cuba's agriculture after the new reforms: Between stagnation and sustainable development

Article Abstract:

In order to overcome the economic crisis, the agricultural production should be revived and made profitable for domestic consumption and export. Financial and participatory autonomy and self-management is key to the rationalization and economic viability of Cuban agriculture.
