The multilateral trading system: the way ahead

Article Abstract:

The implementation of the GATT has increased the trading capacities of the European nations. The developing nations have witnessed a rise in their standards of living and income levels. This achievement has been accelerated by the reduction of protectionist clauses specified by the Uruguay Round Table Agreements. The anti-dumping rules also give an opportunity to developing nations to enlarge their trade activities. The decision to form the World Trade Organization shall speed the process further.

Trading justice for truth

Article Abstract:

The conflicts in former Yugoslavia and central Africa have created the problem of justice and reconciliation. Africa's Truth Commission is reporting on violators of human rights in hopes of unifying a nation. Many of the politicians pushed for this measure to ensure their positions and prevent any further conflicts. However, this measure may set a precedent for the future if the regime representatives admit and apologize for their wrongdoings.
