The new verbal order

Article Abstract:

language is increasingly being used for political purposes as George Orwell depicts in his novel '1984.' Political change impels linguistic distortions and the creation of new languages as is clear from post-Soviet turmoil in Russia. The distortion of language results from deconstruction which implies alterations in word meanings. Mutilation of language and the images as shown on TV negatively affects society. It is essential for Western cultures to prevent subversion of language and thought by providing clear thinking and linguistic integrity.

Capitalism and the moral basis of social order

Article Abstract:

Capitalism should not be observed as a separate ideology like communism or democracy, nor does it automatically exist in democratic countries. Capitalism is an economic concept that has been given a bad image by socialists who propose to substitute capitalism with an egalitarian ideology whereby all men enjoy equal social and political rights. Capitalism, however, is not flawless and does not contain all the attributes necessary to withstand the negative aspects fanatical ideologies such as communism represent.

The moral voice of Octavio Paz

Article Abstract:

The vision presented by Mexican poet Octavio Paz reflects a disturbed and disordered world. He sees modern life as representing both a break with the past and a search which becomes all-embracing. He places strong emphasis on the individual, with human solidarity not being achieved at the cost of human dignity. This is why he rejects the soullnessness of modern societies.
