The world will judge

Article Abstract:

An examination of the role the new International Criminal Court, to which an international group of judges has been elected with a prosecutor likely to follow in April 2003, is likely to play in the world. The new court is expected to have a building from which to conduct operations soon and to commence investigations within the year, despite residual opposition from countries such as the US. It is argued that once the court starts operating, those that currently oppose it will come to realise that it is only beneficial to the world to have a court that can judge those that have committed the worst harm, and they will come on board and help to refine its operations from the inside, rather than criticising from the outside.

Reuters

Article Abstract:

Reuters is the main provider of information from Asia to North America, Europe and the emerging markets, and relies on a healthy world financial market. The Asia crisis has had severe effects on Reuters, with demand in the area still weak, and revenue growth may continue to slow. The company is being restructured with the aim of reducing costs, and is focusing on product development. Reuters has made successful investments in high-technology companies, producing profits on disposal of 26 million pounds sterling. Its Series 3000 information terminal has not sold as well as expected, although its electronic share trading system, Instinet is one of the few areas of growth.
