The zero option

Article Abstract:

The end of the Cold War was thought to lead to the end of the need for nuclear weapons, but other nations have continued their development. The five leading nuclear nations have pledged to eventually eliminate the weapons, though without a timetable. France and Great Britain should take a large step and begin their disarmament of their nuclear weapons, in hopes that other nations will get rid of them. The risk of the use of nuclear weapons is greater because the lesser nations that have them do not have the capability to manage them despite their symbolism of power.

Trident is the answer, now what is the question?

Article Abstract:

The British Parliament is likely to approve in March 2007 a proposal to replace the country's Trident nuclear missile submarines with a new, similar system, through the support of the Conservative opposition. The proposal being a cost effective option will be approved, but some of the facts used to back the administration's decision raise many questions, even about the future of the U.K.'s defense program.
