Commentary on the papers of Doctors Elkind and Abarbanel

Article Abstract:

A psychoanalyst describes the behavior of consultants Sue Nathanson Elkind and Alice Abarbanel as reprehensible and condescending and wants to warn the psychoanalytic community about how these consultants handle cases. The two consultants pretend to have compassion for their colleagues and act as an advocate for both parties, but they serve as a judge of the therapists and an advocate of the patient. Abarbanel reports the therapist to the ethics and licensing boards, after posing as an advocate for both parties and acknowledging her own imperfections.
