A longitudinal analysis of the course of depressive symptomatology geriatric patients with cancer of the breast, colon, lung, or prostate

Article Abstract:

A study mapped the trajectory of depression and its components such as depressive mood and somatic expression of depression for one-year after an initial cancer diagnosis, revealing the complex nature of the psychological response to the cancer experience. The results of the analysis showed the importance of psychological assessment and symptom management during cancer treatment.

Protective buffering and emotional desynchrony among spousal caregivers of cancer patients

Article Abstract:

There was a difference in the communication channel of spousal caregivers of cancer patients. A more positive facial expression is seen when the patient was around than absent while the caregiver's words did not change when the patient was around.

This article discusses the relationship between cancer patients' functional ability and their spouses' mental health. An analysis of marital satisfaction, patient mental health, and care giving is presented.
